ABOUT THE VENUE
The Ramón Figueroa Chapel Amphitheater of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM) will be the venue for the CoHemis International Conference on Green Communities (CICGC 2008). This amphitheater is located next to the Carlos E. Chardón Building (see map below). The UPRM Campus, one of the eleven of the UPR system, is located in a picturesque town in the west of Puerto Rico. ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO AT MAYAGÜEZ (UPRM)
	Historical Sketch: The University of Puerto Rico was created by an act of the Legislative Assembly on March 12, 1903 emerging as an outgrowth of the Normal School, which had been established three years earlier to train teachers for the Puerto Rican school system. In 1908, the benefits of the Morill-Nelson declared applicable to the island, fostered the rapid growth of the University. Eloquent evidence of that growth was the establishment of the College of Liberal Arts at Río Piedras in 1910 and the College of Agriculture at Mayagüez in 1911. See more information >

HOW TO GET INTO UPRM
	The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus is located in the city of Mayagüez. This city is the largest town in the west coast of the island. Located some two and one-half hours away from San Juan. There are several ways on how to get into UPRM from the Capital city of San Juan, and where the main airport is located. You can either drive, flight to Mayagüez or Aguadilla small airports, or take public transportation. See more information >
